Grass

I feel attracted to the grass that grows in random places; the kind that grows through the cracks in the pavement, the kind that fills the gaps between cement blocks, and the type which also sprouts up in places left in ruins. There are surrounding areas near the city where has spread over the hills as if it were a carpet. It is a vivid and resilient element to the harshness of the climate. They appear even if there is very little water and hardly any soil.

The rocks

While walking we were gathering rocks. Besides noticing that they adapted to our hands pretty well, many of them had visible marks and obvious wear. It seemed the rocks had been carved just enough to be transformed into tools. Maybe human beings of a different epoch used them to cut skins, grind food, or make other tools. I brought some to my studio to see how I could use them now.
